Express Yourself Democratically

Once upon a time I had aspirations I might become a national journalist similar to Peter Jennings. Hope still breathes, and the dream still lives, however the media industry gets smaller every year as the power of the people asserts itself in blogs, and social media across many platforms as technology becomes more available to more people. Traditional outlets hire less people. And the people they do hire require more education.

The last article I wrote, published in hard copy was January 2009. I wrote one article about President Obama's win and the good will of the American public that gave him to us for 8 years. Another article was about Rev. Jeremiah Wright. He came to the church I attended and spoke a logical spiritual message with no inflammatory expressions, just a sermon some time after he mispoke about America in the heat of passion over the sorrow of a particular group?

However the editor I was grateful to that granted me the opportunity to write articles in his newspaper, the www.mibulletin.org where I reviewed concerts i.e. Kem, and John Legend near the start of their careers, and Howard Hewett, Surgeon General David Satcher, the 40th MLK Memorial in Memphis, Julianne Malveaux economist felt the need to insert lines in my article i.e. "The racist white media," that I did not approve. It probably regularly happens to writers / journalists even in national publications?

Since 2009 online media outlets have erupted with conservative, and inflammatory viewpoints from coast to coast around the globe, and I have to concede some do have racist viewpoints you can't overlook. However many positive outlets have blossomed as well such as the www.root.com. Traditional networks have other outlets www.thegrio.com www.politifact.com there are so many it's hard to track them, then that's the beauty of this country, and the cyberworld, a plurality of ideas. You can agree with your group, or disagree within your group, you can agree with those outside your group, or disagree with those ideas. Thought is free.

By the same token young writers should be prepared for projections steered towards them when they write about super heroes i.e. Pam Grier, Sonia Sanchez, and others in print, or online in their profession, the hopes to attain a job, or simply the desire for the world to be a better place through spin, or history.

To express yourself is a democratic principal. Express yourself democratically through your words, and example as an American.

I hope to write more interviews that lean toward love in 2018. We all need hope.

Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Father Michael Pfleger have preached about the scourges of gun violence for decades documented on the Internet . Spike Lee produced a film about the gun violence epidemic in Chicago called Chi-raq, that I've yet to see, where the premise was withholding love until non violent reason reached the souls of young men, and no doubt profiteers of proliferation of hate, and confusion. Reverend Jackson is one of the proudest Americans to prove the rights, and  liberties outlined in the constitution's spirit through a logical process through the flaws of obstruction to secure the vote.

There are more guns than there are people in the United States. Look up the ratio while you can on the Internet. Work to restore Net Neutrality so the free flow of information allows you to continue to sooth your self with free pretty fish, cute animals, music, and so much more to become more factually knowledgeable instead a harder quest to sweeten your soul. Gold is everlasting, and the people who chase it are often times ruthless. Be sure your gold is worthwhile to the spirit weather it be true gold, or spirit gold on a sound cloud, or a solo. Don't be intimidated by anyone.

Senator Mosely Braun spoke of broken windows in Chicago schools when she ran for President, although many of those windows have been repaired, far too many still remain broken, because taxes are based on property taxes, and only a minority of people would reach in their pocket to give more to schools i.e. at risk children due to economics.

Sex traffickers and low life's of all sorts need a multitude of weapons to perpetuate the lie of hate.

America think about what you promote to children visually, and rethink the tangent of misunderstanding, and miseducation. Please tell the truth, because the truth is love, and cooperation.

If the NAACP desires to have continued growth it should not only print membership expiration on cards, and subscriptions. It should send a 5 line monthly email on a Sunday since that is a day that is significant to the organization with the renewal date and the specific importance to individuals, the nation, and the world.

The movement should be a symphony new ideas, coupled with traditional markers for growth.

The African American struggle for equality has been emotive, on the way here, and since our arrival on the North American Continent. We worship in many ways that has resulted in our diaspora of diversity. 

There are black people in the democratic, and republican party. 

There are ministers that lean democratic, or republican as Americans in our Democracy. Separation of church, and state has allowed us as black people and the nation to be whole, and walk many paths of spirituality, thought, charity, lifestyles in a family, church, or corporate structure with a plurality of viewpoints that informs our faith.

Each one teach one in spirit, or knowledge. You can learn something from anyone.Your valuable time has gone to waste if you don't sense a ministers priority is to save children's spirits which saves the worlds spirit.

Whatever your faith if it doesn't preach live, and let live in the modern world it's incomplete, doesn't add to an environment to learn about, and from each other in the love story of African Americans, national, and world history..
