2018 Vote for Conscience
Vote For Conscience
by Patricia Britt
The right to vote is a magnificent gift that could be at stake if we don't use it, while we can.
For the spirit of the constitution one man one vote that enables us to stand together to elect people with conscience who care about the vulnerable in society.
Love out democracy enough to participate.
The cruel past could partially return without voters who care.
Rev. Martin Luther King Jr was a hero molded by so many others.
Rev. Martin Luther King Jr was a hero molded by so many others.
Pastor Otis Moss Jr. was told by his father about walking 6 miles to one voter precinct where he was told to go to a different voter precinct 6 miles away, upon arrival at the second voter precinct he was told once more to go to another voter precinct 6 miles away. When he arrived at the third voter precinct he was told it was too late to vote. Mr. Otis Moss Senior died before the next election and was not able to cast his vote. This is the legacy of the Moss family, and many unknown blacks who sought to be a part of our democracy. Vote for Mr. Otis Moss's Senior legacy in each election.

2018 Poem : A Statistics Case
A Statistics Case
by Patricia Britt
I am a statistic, rest assured.
I scurry from place to place,
To meet your demands,
In the ramparts race,
With the flow I prance,
Sometimes in a trance,
Sometimes in dance.
I scurry from place to place,
To meet your demands,
In the ramparts race,
With the flow I prance,
Sometimes in a trance,
Sometimes in dance.
I am a statistic at times,
An alien in my own land.
Please hold my hand.
An alien in my own land.
Please hold my hand.
I am a statistic whose nurtured heart is superior to yours,
Yes it's true,
I do what I do to soothe high egos,
With wisdom's ways,
On my good days,
To play close is to sew sorrow,
Not Tomorrows.
Yes it's true,
I do what I do to soothe high egos,
With wisdom's ways,
On my good days,
To play close is to sew sorrow,
Not Tomorrows.
I am a statisitc,
Lift me up,
Toss me aside,
Equate your life,
And be at one
For a moment in time,
Maybe more, forever ever as we see to see,
What we'll see to be.
Lift me up,
Toss me aside,
Equate your life,
And be at one
For a moment in time,
Maybe more, forever ever as we see to see,
What we'll see to be.
I am a statistic that rises with the oceans currents,
As the wind carries me,
Century to century.
As the wind carries me,
Century to century.
I am a statistic,
Face me now.
Face me later.
With a spiritual caress.
Hoola Hoola Hoop,
Hip Hop Hop, Hippity.
Face me now.
Face me later.
With a spiritual caress.
Hoola Hoola Hoop,
Hip Hop Hop, Hippity.
God bless the world in all the stardust & molecules that we are.

by Patricia Britt
There was Cooley Stadiums Food Truck extravaganza $20+ allowed a variety of taste tests, the first Greater Lansing Balloon Fest, and the cool Lansing Bless Festival at Adado Riverfront Park.
I attended the Lansing Bless Festival and loved the music of Horn & Holland off of the CD Steps of a Good Man.
Songs:
Thank you
Oh Love featuring Sam Trego on lead vocal
Miracle
Through It All
Steps of a Good Man
All Because of You featuring WE3 on vocals
Steps of a Good Man "radio edit"
There was music on Friday and Saturday including Spoken Praise (Gospel Rap), and many other talented groups. The Bless Festival gave away clothes & sandwiches to the community, and a nice family vibe to the Lansing public.

Aretha Franklin Queen of Soul Fare thee Well
Aretha Franklin Queen of Soul Fare thee Well.

Aretha Franklin Queen of Soul fare thee will for every tomorrow.
by Patricia Britt
Aretha Franklin Queen of Soul fare thee will for every tomorrow.
The Precious Lord allowed Aretha Franklin 4 lifetimes if you look at each 20 year increment as a score, when we're all promised 3 score and 10 in the bible. Maybe the sign of the times in the heavy rain in the midwest and at the Apollo theatre in NY is that Aretha's journey to heaven is complete. New Bethel Baptist in Detroit was her home church.
Aretha Franklin cemented her lovely legacy with the development of Aretha records in the past 5 years. She tried to get an autobiography made about her life while she was living similar to the Ray movie about Ray Charles portrayed by Jamie Foxx. In this time there are many major studios and talents who could bring a Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin movie about Ryan Coogler the Black Panther, Ava Duvernay A Wrinkle in Time, Tracey Edmond Jumping the Broom, Robert Townsend the Five Heartbeats, and so on with many gifted actresses to choose Jennifer Hudson, Vivian Green, Mary J. Blige, Angie Stone to name a few with at least one scene in acknowledgment of other great icons who might be in the same room tapestry when the Queen of Soul would ascend to claim an award with so many somebodys who love each other on the that level of magnificence. We all loved Aretha's Rock Steady state of mind. Even though Aretha Franklin never signed with Motown she and Motown shared hearts.

June 2018 : Reunification by Patricia Britt
by Patricia Britt
America's Soul is at stake once more. With technological advances, it seems inevitable that Immigrants, aliens or whatever you want to label them as, who enter our country cultivated by a trail of sweat, will be subjected to. Some marker, or procedure will have to be introduced, and needs to be passed very soon for identification, and currently reunification.
Should it be a liable invasive computer chip beneath the skin, or a retinal record to be scanned, and stored in the cloud? ----
How will the over 2,000 toddlers and children separated from their parents, or care givers be reunited for love's sake?
What is love, other than the pursuit of happiness for dreamers, in a brave new world?
Will it be a decade before all Americans DNA is cataloged and stored somewhere, somehow?
Would it be out of the question for the child holders to purchase some $10.00 grocery store bouquets of flowers for each facility's common area, if not wilted, and faded through the month, or to allow the community to drop off flowers & plastic vases from the dollar store, so the captive population will not be made to feel so beyond unwelcome, but a nuisance, and enemy of the state.
Why isn't the United States government treating these children with a heart i.e. when toddlers have to face judges alone.
When will common sense prevail?
"Compassion Expenditures"
Low music 24/7 classical instrumentals or Central and South America Jazz on wireless speakers.
Yoga Mats from TJ Maxx
Deepak Chopra and his meditation team (Chopra Center) for families and holders state of mind.
Alicia Keys children's app posted on the walls to access if the detainees still have phones.
One Alicia Keys children's book per facility
One Alicia Keys children's app or module
One Alicia Keys poetry book : Tears for Water
A Puerto Rican church group for additional help changing diapers, holding toddlers in their arms, and to read them stories in story hour through a transition to kindness in a dream world.
Even Pursonic essential oils and diffusers could be bought and distributed from Dailysale.com that might help children's immunity and calm their fears per facility?
In collaboration with humanity a cd playlist could be provided by the Obama Foundation youth team with Michelle Williams gospel music, even Madonna's Spanish lullaby on it.

Poem : Love's Height by Patricia Britt
"Love's Height"
by Patricia Britt
To Meaghan & Harry
Love is a supreme sensation upon a violet sunset,
With faith's equivalence.
Love is sweet lavender star lights moon.
The height of love is a durable substance of sublime grace.
The ability to see love, and lift it, is love's ultimate treasure.
The capacity to revel in love is the satisfaction of the
spirit's purpose.
Let the glitter of your love sprinkle ecstatic dust as fairies
slow dance in circles,
That bounce in the air with savoir-faire.'
Even angels flight in awe at loves wondrous simplicity.
The order of love is a rush second by second with no hesitation.
Leap into Christ's cool heart in the storm's infinite eye.
Love that protects is true,
Never ever artificially embued.
The metaphysical realms elemental aura of love endures.

Quotes:
“The beauty of a woman is not in the
clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her
heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her
soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows &
the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

Express Yourself Democratically
by Patricia Britt
Once upon a time I had aspirations I might become a national journalist similar to Peter Jennings. Hope still breathes, and the dream still lives, however the media industry gets smaller every year as the power of the people asserts itself in blogs, and social media across many platforms as technology becomes more available to more people. Traditional outlets hire less people. And the people they do hire require more education.
The last article I wrote, published in hard copy was January 2009. I wrote one article about President Obama's win and the good will of the American public that gave him to us for 8 years. Another article was about Rev. Jeremiah Wright. He came to the church I attended and spoke a logical spiritual message with no inflammatory expressions, just a sermon some time after he mispoke about America in the heat of passion over the sorrow of a particular group?
However the editor I was grateful to that granted me the opportunity to write articles in his newspaper, the www.mibulletin.org where I reviewed concerts i.e. Kem, and John Legend near the start of their careers, and Howard Hewett, Surgeon General David Satcher, the 40th MLK Memorial in Memphis, Julianne Malveaux economist felt the need to insert lines in my article i.e. "The racist white media," that I did not approve. It probably regularly happens to writers / journalists even in national publications?
Since 2009 online media outlets have erupted with conservative, and inflammatory viewpoints from coast to coast around the globe, and I have to concede some do have racist viewpoints you can't overlook. However many positive outlets have blossomed as well such as the www.root.com. Traditional networks have other outlets www.thegrio.com www.politifact.com there are so many it's hard to track them, then that's the beauty of this country, and the cyberworld, a plurality of ideas. You can agree with your group, or disagree within your group, you can agree with those outside your group, or disagree with those ideas. Thought is free.
By the same token young writers should be prepared for projections steered towards them when they write about super heroes i.e. Pam Grier, Sonia Sanchez, and others in print, or online in their profession, the hopes to attain a job, or simply the desire for the world to be a better place through spin, or history.
To express yourself is a democratic principal. Express yourself democratically through your words, and example as an American.
I hope to write more interviews that lean toward love in 2018. We all need hope.
